Why this one
Foam catches the hair. Carbon takes out the stale taste.
Water that has stood in a bowl all day tastes like it has. The foam pre-filter takes hair and grit out before they reach the pump, and the carbon pad behind it takes out the taste. That pairing is the whole reason a cat keeps coming back to a fountain instead of walking past it.
-
01
Two layers, one set
Foam for the hair and grit, carbon for the taste. Both drop in together.
-
02
Every 2 to 4 weeks
Changing them takes about a minute, and the water tastes new again straight away.
-
03
Soak before fitting
Five minutes in clean water and it draws properly from the very first fill.
Common questions
Which fountain does this fit?
The 2 L (68 fl oz) stainless steel pet fountain we sell. It does not fit the 3.2 L (108.2 fl oz) model, which uses a different pump and a different filter.
What is in one set?
One activated carbon pad and one foam pre-filter. The 4-pack holds four of each, the 8-pack holds eight of each.
Do I need to do anything before fitting one?
Soak it in clean water for about five minutes first. A dry filter can stop water passing through it, which sends water over the rim instead.
